Walking

Walking is man’s best medicine
– Hippocrates

We’ve all been there.  You get home after a full day at the hospital or office, pull out the apartment door keys, and change into comfortable clothes.  You know you should get at least 30 minutes of exercise in, but your couch or home office beckons you.  Stopping mid-way, you turn back to the closet to get your exercise clothes.  “Let’s get a good workout in!”

Often times, the simple act of doing cardiovascular or strength training exercises can totally change your energy level.  It truly goes beyond that.  Physicians know that weight loss is one of the most powerful ways to lower blood pressure.  Weight loss is directly linked to energy expenditure and caloric intake.  Blood pressure is directly linked to a myriad of medical conditions, some of which are fatal or irreversible.

Since the start of the new year, I have been making a concerted effort to incorporate a new routine, involving regular exercise and a healthy diet.  Join me!
